THE ABOLITION PROJECT

uses art, political education, and organizing that builds towards a world without police and prisons that centers the well-being of our people.

While our work primarily focuses on death penalty repeal, and campaigns and projects such as #DefundThePolice and I Am Troy Davis, we believe the true abolitionist project is a world without police, prisons, borders or states.

In service of this expansive vision, we collaborate with impacted families in the U.S. and oppressed people globally.

We recognize our position as people living on the colonized land of Turtle Island and believe being in solidarity with colonized people around the world is our best path to liberation.

ABOLITION LEARNING CIRCLES

a political education series for artists and cultural organizers which teaches the history and praxis of abolition. We will utilize popular education pedagogy via a curriculum of six curated, weekly sessions to guide our communities in sharpening their understanding of abolition.

I AM TROY DAVIS

a project that grew from Donkeysaddle’s long partnership with the Davis family. Troy Davis was an innocent man on Georgia’s death row, who was executed in 2011.

I Am Troy Davis is a book, a theatrical protest against the death penalty and intersecting forms of state and racial violence, and a documentary film currently in post-production.

DEATH PENALTY ABOLITION

a national movement to end the death penalty that DSP supports through artistic/cultural work and organizing.

We add capacity to death penalty abolition campaigns and facilitate bridge building between anti-death penalty work and the broader abolition movement.
